Jessina Baker - On a Mission

Update to this story!

We are pleased to announce that Jessina has accepted a full scholarship to Denison University as a Posse Scholar.

Jessina  Baker is a girl on a mission! Her passion in life is to become a criminal profiler for the FBI and she will move closer to her goal this upcoming fall, when she heads off to college.

Currently a Posse Boston finalist, Jessina is anxiously awaiting a decision from colleges. The Posse program is committed to "supporting talented students from diverse backgrounds so they can become tomorrow's leaders."

The distinction of becoming a Posse Scholar is an honor that Jessina worked hard to accomplish. Boston finalists are nominated by high schools and community organizations across Massachusetts and are matched with top universities from around the country who provide full scholarships. Becoming a Posse Finalist is an incredibly high achievement!

Like all of Cristo Rey Boston High School students, Jessina has spent the last four years working at a Corporate Work Study Placement, building valuable time management skills, the ability to work with diverse groups of people and the confidence of being asked to handle adult responsibilities and succeeding.  Currently placed at Jones Kelleher, LLP, Jessina has enjoyed learning about the field of law.

A leader at Cristo Rey Boston, Jessina exemplifies our core values of Dignity, Perseverance, Growth and Generosity. She is an active member of the Knights of the Round Table, our student government. She meets regularly with the leadership team at CRB to represent the student voice.  She is an engaged member of the National Honor Society and is involved with Emerson Writes and the Grub Street Writing Project, two local non-profits supporting young writers, as well as volunteering at Rosie's Place.

Jessina is excited to reach her dream of attending a top university, and although she will miss her mother by attending college out of state, she knows that a bright future is ahead when she accepts a full scholarship via the Posse program. She is motivated by the desire to reach her full potential, and grateful for the opportunities presented to her during her time at Cristo Rey Boston.
