College Counseling

The College Counseling team works with students throughout all four years of high school at Cristo Rey. Through one on one advising, classroom workshops and presentations, field trips and college related events, both parents and students are actively engaged in the college application process. The primary responsibility of the College team is to ensure that all students are on track to apply to and enroll in a best fit college by providing a college counseling curriculum to students and cultivating a school wide college culture.

The College Counseling team utilizes classroom time to guide students with:
• creating a college list
• SAT and ACT registration
• support with completing the FASFA and scholarship forms
• completing and submitting college applications
• reviewing award letters and making a college decision

Grade 9-11 students participate in college workshops, college field trips and presentations to provide exposure and information so they are prepared to take on the application process their senior year.

The College Counseling team works closely with staff at Cristo Rey by providing key application data, updates on student progress, and professional development in the area of post-secondary planning. Furthermore, college counselors host a series of college events for students, family members, and support systems that include but are not limited to College Night, Financial Aid Night, College Decision Meetings, Understanding the Common Application, etc.

The Alumni Advisor works closely with the College Counseling team to create a system of support that prepares Cristo Rey students to enroll in and graduate from college. Once a student has graduated from Cristo Rey, they are in communication with the Alumni Advisor via telephone, texting, video conference, and social media platforms to develop relationships that are crucial in supporting academic success.
