Cristo Rey Boston Appoints Dr. Amy Ryan as Interim Principal

Cristo Rey Boston, an innovative high school in Dorchester, MA serves students of limited economic resources by providing students an opportunity to earn tuition through its Corporate Work Study Program. One of 35 high schools throughout the country utilizing this education model, Cristo Rey Boston boasts 100% college acceptance and a college completion rate of 59%, well above the norm for students in the same socio-economic bracket.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Ryan to the Cristo Rey Boston community,” shared Kevin Kraska, President of Cristo Rey Boston High School. “It is evident by her extensive experience and values driven mindset that she will be a great addition to the leadership team and our school.”
 
Dr. Ryan, a highly regarded educator, comes to Cristo Rey Boston from the Archdiocese of Boston’s Catholic Schools Office, where she served as Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Ryan will support the high school in an interim capacity until such time that a principal is identified.
 
Superintendent at Archdiocese of Boston, Kathy Mears stated, “Amy has been an asset to Catholic education in Boston and I am confident that she will continue to lead with distinction, creativity, and passion.”
 
Dr. Ryan brings extensive experience in curriculum development, and effective adaptation of technology to enhance student learning. She is ready to support the mission of the high school and the needs of the faculty and students.
 
Dr. Ryan earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the Lynch School of Education at Boston College after completing her undergraduate degree at Mount Holyoke College and Master’s degree in education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
