Message from Harry E. Ebbighausen, Chair, Board of Trustees

August 10, 2019

To the Parents and Students of the Cristo Rey Community

As we look to the start of a new school year, I write to share some important information.

Dr. Amy Ryan will be leaving Cristo Rey Boston as of August 16, 2019. Having joined Cristo Rey Boston High School in January as Interim Principal, Dr. Ryan successfully helped us complete our 2018/2019 school year and positioned us for success in the upcoming 2019-2020 school year. During these past eight months Dr. Ryan has been instrumental in re-establishing our Catholic identity and values, raising our academic standards, and delivering on our promise to prepare students for academic and professional success. Cristo Rey Boston High School is grateful for Dr. Ryan’s time, efforts, and contributions to the school and we wish her continued success and nothing but very best for her and her family moving forward.

In the meantime, I want you to know we have aggressively begun the search for a new principal with a target date of early September. Please rest assured that preparations and plans for the new school year continue to move forward. We will be holding our Professional Development and planning with our faculty the week of August 19th as planned and look forward to welcoming our incoming freshmen and returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors the week of August 26th.

Additionally, I would like to share that we have successfully concluded our search of a new President whose name will be announced soon, once we finish the final stages of the approval process with the Archdiocese. We expect to have an announcement shortly and the on-boarding of our new president early next week.

At Cristo Rey Boston High, we are on a journey. No doubt, we have had our fair share of challenges and changes over the last few months and years. However, we remain focused, steadfast and committed to delivering on our mission and promise to your children. Preparing our students for their successful future in both academic endeavors and work life experience continues to be our primary focus. We value our partnership with our families and look forward to introducing you and your students to our new Principal and President later this fall.

With warmest wishes for the upcoming school year,

Harold E. Ebbighausen

Chair, Board of Trustees
