A Message from Tom Ryan, Principal
I hope that are all are having a great summer. As we are about to start our summer programming, I want to take the time to go through more details about next year:
Full In-Person Learning
As you have been made aware, we will be opening for a full in-person school year. There is not a remote option.
Health, Safety and Vaccination
We strongly urge all our students to be fully vaccinated before the start of orientations on August 24, 2021. This will ensure that we can keep our community as safe as possible. The final decision regarding the start of school next year, along with all of our decisions we have made during the pandemic, will be made with the health and safety of our entire community in mind.
A more detailed health and safety letter will be coming out later this summer.
During the 2020-21 school year, due to pandemic-related challenges, we allowed for greater flexibility in enforcing the dress code. For the 2021-22 school year we will be closely monitoring and adhering to the student dress code. By the student’s orientation date and Grade 9 Foundations, all students should be in dress code.
Cristo Rey Boston’s dress code consists of required components and several optional add-ons:
- Polo Shirt: Scholars need to wear a polo shirt imprinted with the Cristo Rey Boston logo. Polo shirts are available in navy and grey and in either short or long sleeves. Scholars may wear a short-sleeved white undershirt under the polo shirt; long/short-sleeve undershirts in colors other than white are not permitted.
- Pants/Skort: Scholars need to wear a pair of khaki or dark grey dress pants with a professional, brown and/or black belt or the official khaki skort. Khaki or grey jeans are not permitted.
- Footwear: Scholars need to wear solid color black or brown dress shoes with solid black socks. Sneakers, boots, Vans, (or Van-like shoes), Ugg boots/slippers or sandals are not permitted. Flip flops, open-toed or high-heeled shoes are not permitted. Socks with logos, patterns or designs are not permitted.
- Sweaters and Fleece Jackets (Optional): Scholars may choose to wear a sweater or a zip-up fleece imprinted with the Cristo Rey Boston logo. Scholars are not allowed to wear other sweaters, hoodies jackets or clothes over their uniform during the academic day, at both school and the workplace.
Orientations and Foundations
Foundations will be held from August 9 through August 20 for all incoming Freshmen and transfer students from 9:00 am-12:00 noon. A small snack will be provided.
Orientation will run from 9:00am-12:00 noon.
Aug 24: Grade 12 Orientation
Aug 25: Grade 11 Orientation
Aug 26: Grade 10 Orientation
Aug 27: Grade 9 Orientation
The first day of classes is Monday, August 30.
The school day will be 8:20am-3:29pm for grades 10,11,12
The school day for Grade 9 will be 8:20am-4:15pm Monday-Thursday and 8:20am-3:29pm on Friday.
Grades 10-12 will have 6 core courses, a lunch block, and a college counseling block that is tailored to the needs of the grade level.
We are looking forward to having our entire community together once again. In order to accomplish this, we are asking everyone - students, faculty, and staff - to remain vigilant, comply with all safety guidelines, and receive the vaccine as soon as you are able.
In the meantime, we hope the end of this academic year is a fulfilling and healthy one. We are grateful for your continued patience, understanding, and flexibility as we navigate through these unprecedented times.
