2021 Fall Fundraising Campaign

“May we have faith in a dream so ambitious as to border on the delusional.”
Fr. John P Foley, SJ, Cristo Rey Network Founder
One Goal: To sustain a full scholarship, academically rigorous college prep high school where barriers to student success are minimized. Cristo Rey Boston students acquire the necessary tools to achieve success in college and career.
Many Dreams: Students arrive at Cristo Rey Boston nurturing a variety of dreams; Cristo Rey’s role is to support students on their journey as they turn their aspirations into reality.
By providing full tuition scholarships to all enrolled students, the Cristo Rey Boston community of donors commits to closing the opportunity gap for college-bound students from under-resourced communities by removing financial barriers to enrollment.
The opportunity gap is a result of many factors. Many students hail from families where English is not the first language, making parental communication, homework support and college planning more complicated. Families can often be dealing with job, food and housing insecurity, which has been exacerbated by the pandemic. Finally, students may have experienced trauma that impacts the development of trust, focus and concentration.
Between September 8, 2021, and October 31, 2021, $500,000 dollars must be raised to address the Corporate Work Study revenue shortfall caused by the ongoing Covid pandemic and support full tuition scholarships for all enrolled Cristo Rey Boston students.
Dev ChartThe financial model is simple: students work at a Corporate Work Study (CWSP) position, gaining valuable exposure to corporate America, while also creating a revenue stream to the school. In a typical year, CWSP revenue accounts for 65% of school funding. The additional 35% is funded through grants and philanthropic revenue- making Cristo Rey Boston tuition free for student families. Currently our model remains upside down – with only about 40% of the school funding coming from our CWSP and 60% dependent on fundraising. Simply put, we must raise enough money to provide the resources needed for Cristo Rey Boston students to meet their full potential.
Your donations match student efforts at their work-study placements and in the classroom and demonstrate your commitment to ensuring the pathway to success is made more equitable.
